Discipline

Train to improve strength and self-control.

We instill discipline through our rigorous training regimen. We drill the basics in every class because it is the foundation of success.

Having control over your emotions develops Self-Control. It is known that emotional intelligence (EQ) is as important as your intelligence quotient (IQ). While IQ is inherent, EQ can be developed most especially in the early stages of childhood.

Self-Esteem

Build feelings of self-worth and pride.

We instill self-esteem by praising students for every little improvement, no matter how small.

One of the ways students come to understand their potential and build their self-esteem is by learning the art of board breaking. A person may attempt to break a board and have everything it takes, including speed, but will stop at the board instead of following through until he/she believes that he/she can do it.

Fitness and Flexibility

Abundant amounts of energy and vitality bring self-respect.

A person who is physically fit and flexible will have an abundant amount of energy and vitality. Our program is physically demanding from beginners to advanced students. Our students go home smiling, sweaty, and sore.

Confidence

Believe in one’s self and one’s own abilities.

The students learn the basic kicks, blocks, self-defense, and series of moves called Forms. With every technique they learn, their confidence soars to higher horizons.

Perseverance

Persistent determination means never giving up - try again, and again, and again!

Everyone will fail. It’s inevitable. The question is what you do after you fail that determines your success in life! This is how your character is built. Gichin Funakoshi said it best. “The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory, nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants.”

Setting and Achieving Goals

Set goals with a deadline, take massive action, and go for it!

We all know that we should have goals but how many of us take the time to actually set them? Unfortunately, only a small minority of Americans writes their goals down. Imagine how our lives will be filled with health and happiness when we set and achieve our goals.

At USKA, students set personal and professional goals and take action to achieve them by strengthening themselves from the inside out. One of the best ways we do this is by showing them the art of board breaking.
